Basic principles for using rearview mirrors

Correct adjustment:

Interior rearview mirror: The entire rear windshield should be visible, minimizing the proportion of the rear seats in the car, and ensuring that the field of vision is focused on the rear of the vehicle. Left exterior rearview mirror: Adjust the angle so that the body of the car occupies about a quarter of the inner side of the mirror, mainly showing the road conditions on the left rear side.

Right exterior rearview mirror: Also adjust the angle so that the body of the car occupies about a quarter of the inner side of the mirror, showing the road conditions on the right rear side. Because the driving position is on the left (for left-hand drive vehicles), the right rearview mirror should be adjusted farther to cover a larger blind spot.

Regular inspection: Ensure that the rearview mirror is clean and maintains a clear view, especially when driving in rainy, foggy or at night. Regularly check the adjustment function and heating function of the rearview mirror (if any) to ensure that they are working properly.

When to use: Before starting: Check all rearview mirrors to ensure that there are no vehicles or obstacles behind. When changing lanes: Before turning on the turn signal, check the interior and exterior rearview mirrors to ensure that there are no other vehicles in the blind spot. If necessary, quickly look back to confirm.

When reversing: Use the interior and exterior mirrors to observe obstacles behind and on both sides, and pay attention to the field of view provided by the reversing camera (if any). Anti-glare setting: The interior mirror usually has an anti-glare function. When driving at night, you should switch to anti-glare mode to reduce interference from the lights of the rear vehicles.
